Health Journey - Functional Lab Testing

Updated: Jul 7, 2021

These are some of the most common tests that I do with clients.  I have access to over 30 different functional lab tests which I can offer to you as needed.

GI Map Stool Test from Nordics Lab

The Gastrointestinal Microbial Assay Plus (GI-MAP) is an innovative clinical tool that measures gastrointestinal microbiota DNA from a single stool sample with state of the art, quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) technology.

The GI-MAP was designed to detect microbes that may be disturbing normal microbial balance or contributing to illness as well as indicators of digestion, absorption, inflammation, and immune function. With a culture-based test it is not possible to measure strict anaerobes, viruses or virulence factors.

The GI-MAP's accuracy and reliability allows personalized protocols to address gut dysfunction based on which infections are urgent, which areas of the gut are already optimized, and which areas should be addressed after an infection is resolved. Additionally, the quantification of identified micro-organisms offers a remarkable ability to see how treatment modalities are working because a retest after treatment can show whether a parasite has resolved, dysbiosis has improved, and more.

  • Parasitic Pathogens (Cryptosporidium, Entamoeba histolytica, Giardia)

  • Viral Pathogens (Adenovirus, Norovirus, Rotavirus)

  • H pylori (H Pylori, with 7 virulence factors)

  • Normal Bacterial Flora (Bacteroides Fragilis, Bifidobacter, Enterococcus, E. coli, Lactobacillus, Clostridium Spp., Enterobacter Spp.)

  • Phyla Microbiota (Bacteroidetes, Firmicutes, Bateroidetes/Firmicutes ratio)

  • Opportunistic Bacteria (Bacillus, Enterococcus, Morganella,  Pseudomonas, Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, etc)

  • Autoimmune Triggers (Citrobacter, Klebsiella, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Prevotella Copri, Proteus Spp etc)

  • Parasites (Blastocystis hominis, Dientamoeba fragilis, Endolimax nana, Entamoeba coli, Chilomastix mesnelli, Cyclospora, Pentatrichomonas)

  • Fungi/Yeast (Candida albicans, Candida spp., Geotricum spp., Microsporidia spp., Rodotorula spp.)

  • Viruses (Cytomegalovirus, Epstein Barr Virus)

  • Worms (Ancylostoma duodenale, Ascaris lumbricoides, Necator americanus, Trichuris trichiura, Taenia spp)

  • Additional Tests (Elastase, Steatocrit, SIgA, Anti-Gliadin, Calprotectin, b-Glucuronidase, Occult Blood)

  • Antibiotic Resistance Genes

DUTCH Hormone Test

DUTCH Complete (DUTCH Adrenals + DUTCH Hormone Metabolites Profiles + Melatonin), the DUTCH Complete now includes the following additional markers

  • Homovanillate (HVA) – the primary dopamine metabolite

  • Vanilmandelate (VMA) – the primary norepinephrine and epinephrine metabolite

  • 5-hydroxyindoleacetate (5HIAA) – the primary serotonin metabolite

  • Methylmalonate (MMA) – elevated if patients are vitamin B12 deficient

  • Xanthurenate – elevated if patients are vitamin B6 deficient

  • Pyroglutamate – elevated if patients are glutathione deficient

DUTCH Plus (DUTCH Adrenals + DUTCH Hormones Metabolites Profiles + Melatonin + Cortisol Awakening Response CAR)

Hair, Tissue, Mineral Analysis from Analytical Research Lab

Calcium, Magnesium, Sodium, Potassium, Iron, Copper, Manganese, Zinc, Chromium, Selenium, Phosphorus, Nickel, Cobalt, Molybdenum, Lithium, Boron, Lead, Mercury, Cadmium, Arsenic, Aluminum.

Provides a basic Multi-Element Laboratory Assay reporting the patient test results for macro and micro minerals, toxic metals and significant ratios. A chart is provided that identifies the patient/client information and graphically illustrates the test results.

Comprehensive Thyroid Panel

TSH, Free T3, Free T4, T4 Total Thyroglobulin, Thyroxine-Binding Globulin, Anti-Thyroglobulin Ab, and Anti-TPO Ab (thyroid antibodies)
